…As part of the modernization, the existing S5 rack and power supply were replaced, approximately 100 relays were swapped out, and the existing signals were gradually reconnected to the new cards. At the same time, the system was prepared for the eventual replacement of the second S5 rack.
The retrofit was necessary due to the increasingly difficult availability of replacement parts and the rising risk of failure associated with the S5 technology.
As the fourth modernized system at the site, the Rekal400 is now well-prepared for the next steps—and thus significantly more future-proof.
